Eddington House Inn on the Weather Channel

Maple Syrup and the Eddington House Inn

We were delighted to have Robert Firpo-Cappiello from Budget Travel recommend the Eddington House Inn this morning on TV’s “Wake up with Al” on the Weather Channel.  Budget Travel recommended the Eddington House as a great place to stay to experience Vermont Maple Season. Many beautiful photos of the Eddington House  scrolled across the screen during the segment but unfortunately our inn’s name was printed incorrectly as Eddison House …however, our website… was prominent.  Thank you Robert for thinking of the Eddington House and North Bennington Village, Vermont.  We appreciate the time and effort you put into the broadcast.

I hope this added exposure will encourage new guests to experience beautiful Southern Vermont and our wonderful Maple Sugaring season.

Kisses for Kevin

Kevin’s Sports Pub & Restaurant

Scores of you over the years have enjoyed a great meal and friendly service at neighboring Kevin’s Sports Pub & Restaurant. You remember Kevin’s – our neighborhood cheers-like pub just up the street from the Eddington House that offers its patrons great food at reasonable prices as well as the best burgers in the Universe AND live entertainment on weekends with no cover charge.

Many of you have met Kevin and have returned to the inn with a satisfied tummy, a smile, his signature Hershey kisses and sometimes even a complimentary Kevin’s pint glass.

Kevin’s kind heart is well known throughout Southern Vermont. He has offered his time, expertise and support to SO many individuals, businesses and organizations in the Bennington area that it would be impossible to mention them all.

Kevin is currently battling cancer. There is not a person in Bennington who isn’t rooting for his speedy recovery. To show YOUR support please LIKE Kevin’s Facebook page at

Todd, a bartender at Kevin's sports the new Tshirt

Kevin’s is operating “business as usual” and Kevin’s friendly and supportive staff is continuing to provide good drinks, great food and friendly service. Next time you are in town, stop by for lunch or dinner and pick up one a NEW CANCER FUNDRAISER T-SHIRT FOR KEVIN: “KISSES FOR KEVIN” only $15.00.

 Hope to see you soon.

Bennington College Visits

Spring is just around the corner, the snow in North Bennington Village is melting and students from all over the world are arriving for tours of Bennington College. Many young people are seeing Bennington for the first time while others are taking a second look, sitting in on some classes and even spending an overnight on campus. The Eddington House Inn’s location just a couple of blocks from the college make the ideal spot for families touring the campus.

Spring is also the time for student presentations and performances and parents love the easy access from the inn to campus. The Eddington House offers a Midweek College visit rate of $109 per night for visiting families. Suzie’s two room suite offers an adjacent room with a twin and a rollaway – that accommodates 3 for $149. As always, rates include a full breakfast and afternoon refreshments.

The Eddington House is also in close proximity to SVC (10 minutes) and Williams College (30 minutes). Hope to see you soon.

Maple Syrup- Sweet deal on Eddington House Suites

Maple Syrup Season

Many of our guests this time of year are families visiting Bennington College and we offer a special rate to families on the college tour. Another great reason to come to Vermont in March is to enjoy VERMONT Maple Syrup. From now until March 31 we are offering a $109 rate for ALL midweek Suites (mention MAPLE109- new reservations only) .

Yes, March is sugaring season and our local sugar houses are boiling that collected sap into yummy maple syrup. This time of year you can visit some sugar houses, learn about the process and taste Vermont’s special treat. To learn more visit

Here at the Eddington House, Vermont Maple Syrup is a staple. One of my favorite uses of this wonderful sweetener is to mix a little maple syrup with Cabot Greek Yogurt and then layer in a wine glass with your favorite fruits…YUM.

Holidays in Vermont

Winter at the Eddington House

Snow is in the forecast for today and again later in the week.  We are expecting a Vermont White Christmas.  Our tree is up and decorated, fence lights line the walk and driveways and evergreen can be smelled throughout the inn with the addition of balsam branches in each room.

Prospect Mountain is preparing for a great  season of cross country skiing and snowshoeing in the Green Mountains. The mountain has received enough snow for our local high school ski team to begin its season practices.

The Bennington Museum features its annual Festival of Trees – a wonderful month long event enjoyed each year by children and adults alike.

Hildene, the Lincoln family home, offer tours of the home decorate for the holidays in nearby Manchester – only 25 minutes from the inn. Hildene also has a wonderful gift shop and many special events this winter.

Taylor Farm, Lively’s Livery and Karl Pfister are all gearing up for Vermont sleigh rides.

Sue, our neighboring massage therapist, will make house calls here at the inn to help reduce the tensions of this busy season.

Area shops are filled with goodies for Christmas & beyond and local restaurants are beautifully decorated to bring festivity to the season.

Happy Holidays to all from the Eddington House Inn.

Hope to see you soon.

Southern Vermont Orchards Ablaze in Color

Southern Vermont Orchards is one of my favorite fall drives.

Since mid-September I have been sending my guests from the inn for a wonderful fall foliage drive not far from the Eddington House Inn.

This scenic drive begins by traversing our 3 covered bridges on to beautiful tree lined  Monument Avenue in Old Bennington Village, up Mt Anthony to the Everett Mansion at Southern Vermont College and then finally to experience the views and color at Southern Vermont Orchards.  With Mt Anthony as it’s backdrop, Southern Vermont Orchards offers great color, acres of apple trees laden with ruby colored apples and a panoramic view.

This orchard is special place in the fall, in the spring when the apple blossoms are in bloom and also in the summer with a clear view of the valley and a blend of beautiful greens. Hope you’ll visit soon.

College Visits

Touring Colleges this Spring???

If you and your student are touring New England campuses and your schedule includes a visit to Bennington College, Southern Vermont College, Williams or Skidmore, consider an overnight at the Eddington House Inn.  We offer a special midweek college visit rate of $109 per night per room based on single or double occupancy.    In addition, one of our rooms, Suzie’s room (queen bed) has an adjacent room with a twin bed and the two rooms  can accommodate a total of 3 people for $149 per night.  Rates include a full breakfast and afternoon refreshments.

The Eddington House Inn is an easy walk to Bennington College, about 10 minutes to SVC, 30 minutes to Williams and 60 minutes to Skidmore in nearby NY state.

This special rate applies  not only to prospective students but to families of current students as well.  If you are planning a trip to visit your son or daughter, to view a performance or help them arrange housing for the summer; our Bennington bed and breakfast is conveniently located and our reviews are stellar.

College midweek rates valid through June with the exclusion of graduation or holidays.

Hopefully the Eddington House Inn will become  ”your favorite place to stay” while your student is attending one of our nearby colleges.

Maple Open House Weekend March 23-24, 2013

Visit Southern Vermont Sugar Houses on March 23 – 24

North Bennington’s VAE does it again
