VAE does it again. North Bennington’s own art center presents another fun night of music. The Basement’s “house band” is back filling the dance floor for their annual rock n roll party. The Prescriptions will be performing on Saturday March 26 at 8pm at Vermont Arts Exchange on Sage Street in North Bennington Village. Tickets are available at 800-838-3006.
Enjoy some of the area’s finest musicians delivering the best tunes – Blues, Rock, Funk & Soul…………!!! Dance the night away.
An additional treat is CAFE AMBITION! After two first runs of serving sweets and chili during the shows, VAE now offers a light dinner before the show. Drop by at 7:00 (when doors open), grab your seat, then go to the Cafe for traditional coffee house fare including Soups, Stews (vegetarian or not). A great way to squeeze in dinner before or after the show and relax!
Or you can catch an early dinner at Pangaea Lounge or Kevin’s….both within a short walk from the Eddington House and Vermont Arts Exchange.

Sarah & Dan visited the Eddington House Inn in 2007 to celebrate their first anniversary and have been trying to return ever since. Like many young couples, things have been busy for Dan & Sarah. They have purchased their first home and added a family member…a new dog. Sarah has returned to school to study business and Dan is busy juggling three jobs; teaching piano from his home, building web sites and working with his Dad.
Dan’s dad is sculptor Robert Shure who has his own ties with Bennington. Mr. Shure sculpted the statue of Revolutionary War General John Stark which can be seen on the grounds of the Bennington Battle Monument. General Stark and his men, with some help from Seth Warner’s Vermont militia, the Green Mountain Boys, routed the Hessian forces there and prevented British General John Burgoyne from resupplying. Stark’s action contributed directly to the surrender of Burgoyne’s northern army at the Battle of Saratoga some months later. This battle is seen as the turning point in the Revolutionary War.
I was happy to see Dan & Sarah…they are a delightful couple. They returned to celebrate Valentine’s Day here in Southern Vermont by taking advantage of our Romance Package.
Have a great Spring Dan & Sarah….hope to see you again soon!

Mike & Annie get Engaged
Vermont has long been known as destination for a Romantic Getaway. The Eddington House Inn in North Bennington Village is no exception. Though our Southern Vermont Inn has hosted many couples who became engaged while staying with us, this blog article is featuring Annie & Mike from Derby, New York.
The young couple arrived on Saturday November 20 for a two night Relax & Unwind Spa Package. Mike popped the question on Saturday evening before dinner. Mike tells me the proposal was a surprise to Annie and that though they had been talking marriage, Mike had always put Annie off saying that marriage would be a few years off. Needless to say, Mike surprised Annie, Annie accepted and they had a wonderful weekend in Southern Vermont.
Please note a picture of the happy couple in the living room of the inn right after the proposal, later having dinner at Pangaea and of course a picture of the beautiful ring.
I just received an email from Annie and she & Mike are planning their big day. They hope to return on their 1st wedding anniversary. I look forward to seeing them once again and hopefully for many years to come.

Romance is in the air. It is beautiful day in Southern Vermont…sunny and warm. A bird has built a nest in the wreath outside the front door of our Vermont barn. Yes, Spring is here.
Southern Vermont in the spring is the perfect time for a romantic getaway to a bed and breakfast. Gardens are in bloom, everything is fresh and new this time of year in Southern Vermont.
Take the time for a romantic getaway. Escape with your honey and enjoy a spacious suite with a luxurious queen bed and cozy fireplace, and a bottle of champagne. Later that evening you can stroll to our local bistro, Pangaea Lounge for a relaxing dinner for two. You’ll be treated the next morning to a gourmet breakfast for two in our light filled dining room. Then off to explore the many sites and shops in Bennington. Don’t miss Bennington Potters, the Village Chocolate Shop and Cat Bird Studio. Take in the Bennington Museum for a little “culture” and stop by Madison’s Brew Pub to try their beer sampler.
Hope to see you this spring at the Eddington House Inn….Bennington’s boutique bed and breakfast in historic Southern Vermont.
