Southern Vermont Cross Country Skiing

Posted on: January 6th, 2011 by Patti Eddington

Let it SNOW…

Happy New Year to all.  With a great early snow….19 inches here in North Bennington Village and even more in the nearby Green Mountains, it promises to be a great year to cross country ski and snowshoe.

Propect Mt in Woodford VT (about 15 minutes from the Inn)  offers cross country ski and snowshoe rentals and some amazing views.  The base elevation of Prospect Mtn. X-C Ski Area is 2250′. This is the highest base elevation of any alpine or cross-country ski area in the state. The high elevation is an important factor in providing consistently good ski conditions at Prospect.

Prospect Mountain maintains 30+ kilometers of trails. When the snow begins to fall, the trails are expertly groomed for both skate and classical cross-country skiing. Most trails have tracks set on either side with a wide skating lane in the center. There are also special snowshoeing and classical skiing trails. Trail difficulties range from beginner to extreme expert.

The Eddington House Inn offers a Cross Country Ski/Snowshoe Package each winter which includes 2 nights lodging, 2 one day passes to Prospect Mt., dinner one evening at Kevin’s, full breakfast and afternoon refreshments daily and of course ..endless desserts.   Visit our Packages page for pricing and details.

Hope to see you this winter!

Vermont Bed and Breakfast – Snow in April

Posted on: April 28th, 2010 by Patti Eddington

Let it snow…..

Snow is falling today outside our Vermont bed and breakfast…yes, in April.  Southern Vermont Inn Garden in SnowI’m not sure how much they got on the mountains but yesterday I could see that the Green Mountains were covered.

Killington will be happy because they are still open for downhill skiing and perhaps this will help prolong their ski season. Cross country skiers, please don’t get too excited, I think you will have to wait for winter to come back to ski or snowshoe here in Vermont.  Check out our Cross Country Ski Package at Prospect Mountain for winter 2010/2011.

Our tulips are looking a bit sad, but they are used to this kind of treatment here in Southern Vermont.   Ah well, SPRING will be back at the Eddington House Inn Bed and Breakfast by this weekend.  Temperatures are to be in the 70’s here in North Bennington, Vermont.
